Charlie Brear Mainline 2020 Bridal Collection - ‘Freedom in Love’
The emphasis this season as always, being beautiful fabrics with a twist, ‘Freedom in Love’ continues to innovate through styling pieces, additions and accessories, plus some great stand-alone and new classic gowns. Keeping the cool, contemporary style that is Charlie’s signature, the brand continues to innovate and dominate in this genre of bridal. This collection ups the ante, delivering bolder more exaggerated shapes and luxury fabrics, with the addition of gold print and toned satins to add dimension and depth of choice.
For this collection, inspiration came from the early nineties, with a nod to darker and more edgy films like Casino, Interview with a Vampire and Buffalo 66. Glamour at this time was reemerging, ultra feminine shapes in high shine mixed with harder more directional fashions. Boundaries were breaking across the globe, female music icons like Courtney Love and Alanis Morrisette reigned supreme with a laid back attitude to red carpet dressing.
‘Freedom in Love’ collection is in itself modern and fashion led in design but still focuses on transforming simple looks to another level. Silhouettes can be dramatically changed by the addition of sheer billowing organza overskirts and blouson style sleeves to create an effortlessly pretty bespoke look. Softly structured shapes, deep v-necks and backs contrast against flowing full skirts and bias cuts, beautiful heavily embroidered laces and simple clean line crepe tops - all work together to create the perfect look. Stand out pieces for 2020 include a stunning chiffon fringed column dress with iridescent sequins, delicate lace cape with stunning full-length train, gold dash printed organza separates and our sell out Nyika kimono dress reimagined in show stopping foil printed lurex.
Having worked over the last year on some great collaborations, this collection includes one with Miranda Almond, Senior Fashion Editor at Harper’s Bazaar UK. Miranda has worked alongside Charlie to create three innovatively styled pieces including a two-piece additions set in satin organza and a fine grain satin dress to rival best seller Payton, which works as well under additions as it does a stand-alone dress. Sourced from around the world, beautiful fabrics underpin every Charlie Brear collection, often providing the inspiration for the final designs.
For the collections title ‘Freedom in Love’ Charlie looked to her family to define what love really is, the collection is ….
